Denon AKDL1 Dedicated Link Cable

A great cable, but you need to get 4 of them., June 14, 2008

This is an amazing cable, and you can really hear the difference. Unfortunately, Denon doesn’t tell you this but you actually need 4 of these cables: the first handles incoming 1s, the second handles outgoing 1s, the third handles incoming 0s and the fourth handles incoming 0s. I tried with just one cable but it sounded awful – but once I spent $2000 on 4 of these cables, and then had a guy splice them together, my MP3s sounded AWSOME!

This cable made my David Hasselhoff CD sound like William Shatner! My only disappointment was in having too much of a good thing.

I will never buy a Denon product again, June 14, 2008

I had a Denon receiver a long time ago and, until now, would have considered Denon again. Not now, after seeing this I will never buy another Denon product. Denon should be ashamed. Type “Belkin cat 5 cable” in the Amazon search bar to see what good quality cat 5 cable really costs.

I’m an engineer, so trust me on this one. Sound is a wave, moving in one direction. A uni-directional cable such as this is needed for optimum listening pleasure. Some other poster, incorrectly I might humbly add, said using it backwards causes the music to play backwards. Installing it in reverse causes the 1′s and 0′s to start to clog the line since they have no where to go. As a result, you’ll get no sound at all. If you do that, be careful when you turn the cable around as all the 1′s and 0′s will come out at once, potentially overloading your ethernet connection and exceeding your ISP’s bandwidth caps.

Overall, I gave it 5 stares because, in spite of the price (apparently there is one made every minute), it clearly does what it is designed to do.

Folks, by it’s definition, digital is either “1″ or “0″, “on” or “off”, it’s not like the cable is carrying ever-so-slightly varying currents to tell your player to play this flute note with the utmost of clarity. No, it’s just “ON” or “OFF”, over and over, extremely quickly. The other posts are rightfully making fun of this product. Get a far cheaper digital cable and you’ll get the absolute same quality of sound.

Previously, the Denon AKDL1 Dedicated Link Cable could only be obtained either by prescription or via the black market. But now, suddenly everything remains exactly the same. That fact, by itself, should add some much-needed gravitas to the scholarly debate on this controversial and highly irrelevant topic.

Nevertheless and notwithstanding, as with any first automobile purchase, all potential buyers should first consult a spiritual advisor BEFORE taking the Denon AKDL1 intravenously for recreational purposes. I cannot stress this highly. At ALL.

While well-tolerated in most domesticated animals, the Denon AKDL1 is not for everybody. Side effects may include headache, nausea, trouble swallowing, disorientation, incontinence, explosive diarrhoea, spontaneous combustion, menopause, chronic erogenous dissonance (CED), lethargy, gluttony, avarice, death, spontaneous mutation, gas, spontaneous gas, spontaneous lethargic gas (SLG), gout, the vapors, explosive spontaneous stupidity (ESS), death, Larry Fine Syndrome (LFS), blurred vision, post-nasal death (PND), spontaneous explosive hubris (SEH), goiter, weeping buboes, and dry mouth.

I feel confident in stating that most users will find the Denon AKDL1.

Denon should be ashamed of themselves, June 13, 2008

$500 for a cable? Get a grip, Denon. Completely dishonest. I’ll never buy any of your products again.

This Cable Improved my Health!, June 16, 2008

Thank you Denon. I suffer from a rare R/F allergy which makes it nearly impossible for me to leave my lead lined sarcophagus (unless there is a power outage). Generally i can only listen to music on an accoustic gramaphone and hence my library consists entirely of John Phillips Suza. That all changed when i got the Denon AKDL1 dream maker. No random photons here! I’ve integrated the cable into a bucket i’ve lined with tinfoil and now my library has already expanded to include Count Basie and Sir-Mix-Alot. Life is once again worth living.
