Now I’m afraid that this rant of mine has been rather less structured and meaningful as others, but that’s part of the point of a rant. I suppose in conclusion I should state that C++ snobbism makes me somewhat embarrassed, given that C++ is a language I know fairly well, and generally like to use. I can’t recommend large chunks of the C++ users community, though, given that snobbism appears to be rife in it. And that makes me angry enough to rant about it for a bit in this manner.
In defense of both Lua and Python, I should also mention that such mutual bashing happens less often that you might think after reading this rant of mine. The two languages just happen to be good examples, and I’ve found both communities to be very helpful on average.
So… what are your experiences with this sort of thing, whether it’s about C++ snobbism, language snobbism or general snobbism? How do you deal with snobs, if at all?
